The Lakeview Collection

关于此套币: For years I admired the Red Copper Collection of Canadian specimen KGVI cents, wondering for the longest time who owned them, and spending hours daydreaming about one day finding similar coins for my own collection. The 1944, which happens to have been the crown jewel of the Red Copper KGVI set, Is a coin that I always gravitated towards when browsing the 2003 sale of the Belzberg collection. This was one of the few coins I could properly admire from the Red Copper collection, since it had Heritage auctions photographs while none of the other coins in the set had TrueViews or easily accessible auction records.

As time passed, I learned who Stewart Blay was and began coming across stories of him and seeing his interviews with PCGS on YouTube. It was obvious that he was a true collector and master of numismatics, and with all of the incredible US coins he amassed, I was surprised to learn that this man had also taken the time to build some incredible sets of Canadian coins.

I've read stories of Stewart visiting Canadian shows and auctions, but by the time I was involved in the hobby he seemed to have been just about done working on his Canadian collection, So I unfortunately never got the chance to meet him. It must have been quite a sight watching him buy up all of the most incredible pieces in Belzberg and other sales.

I'm saddened by the circumstances that allowed me to acquire these coins from the Blay collection, but I'm truly happy to be the new owner of them. I'm thankful to Stewart Blay for being a wonderful caretaker of so many Canadian rarities, and I look forward to caring for these numismatic treasures and enjoying them as much as Stewart did. My completion of this set likely wouldn't be possible if it weren't for Stewart's incredible work getting so many amazing coins together into one set decades before I even had an interest in the hobby.

When I publish this set, it will take the #1 spot, but it is important to remember that Stewart held the position for 20 years before me. Rest in peace to the legend Stewart Blay, and thank you to J.R. for your help in making these coins part of my collection.
