VICTORIA 1852 ‘GOTHIC HEAD’ FLORIN – Variety 1 Mauve russet plum and cadium surfaces with brilliant azure highlights and lustrous toning on reverse. Bull) Listed as B1 – Includes Victoria d:g: brit: reg: f:d: - with stop (.) after date. Obverse depicts date in Gothic numerals (mddcccix .) and WW below the bust (the engraver William Wyon’s initials), with 48 border trefoils and the reverse showing crowned cruciform shields; bearing three lions passant for England, the lion rampant for Scotland and harp for Ireland. The angles exhibit a rose, thistle, rose and shamrock with a floriated cross in the center in angles within a tressured circular panel engraved by W. Dyce.
