From a small mintage of 17,205 pieces, the 1839-C is the only Liberty half eagle from the Charlotte Mint that features a prominent obverse mintmark, an important consideration for type purposes. This attractive Choice XF specimen exhibits only light wear on the well-detailed design elements. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces are lightly abraded, but several minor rim dings are evident on both sides.
