Acquired by "Schulman" in 1973 by Floyd Farley. Don Parsley, the son-in-law of Al Overton purchased the piece from Farley in November of 1989. Luster is still evident around the protected areas and adorned by a small band of blue/green album toning.

CAC. Ex Dr. Jack Adams Sale (Pugh) in 1991, raw as an XF45. Ex Eastern Woods II collection.
From Downey Mail Bid 55 and described by the cataloguer - A Red Book staple with too much luster for the assigned grade. The bodacious obverse glows with sunset colors; the reverse is similar, a touch more modest because of (the usual) weakness at the eagle’s head and left wing. XF and AU examples of the “R.1” E over A are devilishly hard to find. I see but one or two a year. An old friend from MB 41, August 2015, lot 30.

From Downey mail bid auction 57 in January 2024 described as: PCGS “rattler,” lot 8388 from Heritage Sept. 2012 sale where it brought $2,354. Brilliant centers, dazzling luster and a welcome halo of russet through the stars and legend. Q. David Bowers sold the coin to the Heritage consignor during a 1974 Long Beach Show as “UNC with rub.” No argument. There are traces of friction on the portrait; the fields are unscathed save for a contact mark twixt left wing and neck. Well struck throughout. Maybe a hint of weakness, lower drapery. A virtual lock to grade “58” today.

Ex Osborne, Downey MB52, Photos by Lance Keigwin. Light rose centers, flanked by turquoise and gold iridescence through the stars and legend. A faint drift mark (planchet imperfection) crosses the portrait. In hand, it blends with the lovely toning. From MB 16, lot 115, Jan. 21, 1996. Possibly the favorite coin in my collection.

O-102 CAC Queller. Deep blue and purple hues from a long stay in an envelope.
Another coin that was tucked away in an album for several decades. Antique toning blends with the luster befitting a 55. Immaculate surfaces save a stray staple scratch on the reverse near the left wing.
Beautiful Album toning fades into auburn and gold. Earned a CAC sticker for eye appeal and originality

From Downey Mail Bid 55 described as - The scarce early die state, with die lines alongside the date and no die break at stars 2-7. Iridescent gold toning through the stars and legend provides an eye-catching frame for the antique grey centers. The surfaces are virtually free of contact marks. From David Kahn, privately, in Nov. 2009 as rare prime R.5.

More than adequate luster is a nice companion to the blue and red luster. Nice even wear on the devices is fitting for the grade. Ex Keigwin.
