POP 1... Cherry Picked out of a junk box in an unattributed flip at the Conroe Coin Convention Jan 2024
Bought raw at a small show in Hot Springs Arkansas year ago and certified
Bought raw from Chick M. I believe at the Denver coin show in 2022?
This coin is a neat POP 1 coin which had a good sized mintage, but extremely tough to acquire in high grade. For some reason, it is also hard to find in undamaged low grade as well! Also have picked a couple of the 42-O Small "O" F104 varieties as well in G4 and G6...
Even though the holder has the Gold Shield, when looked up on the verify site it says "Standard Holder" and does not have a photo??
Bought raw at a small local coin show and certified... No Poor's graded yet!
Bought raw on Ebay and certified... Only a POP 2 in AG3 with nothing certified in lower grades!!?
Another very low POP (2) in FR2 with only 1 lower! Did most of these early dimes that appeared to be worn out end up in the melting pots due to dealers and the public thinking they had no use to collectors? This is a prime example of why Low Ball collecting is so fascinating!! This particular example is really ROUGH! Surprised the graders gave it a pass...
This coin stands out with being a POP 1 example in FR2 with nothing certified lower! With a large mintage you would think this coin would be plentiful in lower circulated grades; especially for the Low Ball enthusiasts? Bought raw and certified
Bought raw and certified in 2022. when there were only 2 coins in AG3 and nothing lower... Since then 2 coins have been certified in FR2 so it appears there are more Low Ball enthusiasts possibly working on the Seated Liberty Dime Low Ball Set!??
Another Gold Shield holder that does not have a photo!! At least this one shows it is a Gold Shield when looked up in the verify app, an earlier Gold Shield holdered coin in this set doesn't even reflect it is a Gold Shield holdered coin!??
Here's a POP 1 coin in FR2 with nothing graded lower! Very few coins of this date have been graded in lower grades! Bought raw and certified
Bought raw and certified with 2 coins in FR2 and only 1 graded lower...
Evidently the large date (Better of the small/Large) varieties were pulled somewhat early in their lives as there are not many lower graded coins to choose from. No Pr01 or FR2 coins graded by PCGS period! This AG3 is one of just two coins graded such! Bought raw and certified
POP 1 coin with very few in lower grades certified. Bought raw and certified.
Bought from Great Collections in July of 2023 in an NGC AG3 holder, crossed over to PCGS AG3.
Interesting date! No PR01 coins have been graded and this is the single FR2 coin that PCGS has graded...POP 1 Nothing graded by PCGS in AG3 or even G4? Bought raw and certified... Note the Nice rotated die
Bought from Great Collections in July of 2023 in an NGC FR2 holder... Crossed over to PCGS FR2 holder.
Bought in an ANACS AG3 holder and cracked out and submitted raw... It down graded to a FR2!
Bought in an ANACS FR2 holder and cracked out and sent in raw... Came back upgraded!!
Bought from Great Collections in July 2023 in an NGC FR2 holder, crossed over to PCGS
Bought raw from Chick M. at the Conroe Texas Coin Show, Jan 2024 and certified
Bought raw and certified... I thought it had a very good shot at grading PR01...
Bought in an ANACS AG3 holder from my friend JS and cracked out and certified now a G4...
POP 1 Bought raw and sent to PCGS where it was rejected... Sent in a second time and this time they graded it the PR01 it should have been the very first time!
Bought certified from Great Collections May 2024... F-106a
Bought raw and certified years ago for inclusion in my Copper, Nickel, Silver Type Set
Chased this coin over the course of at least 1 year, and finally bought it at the ANA Mid Winter in Colorado Springs in 2024. Thank you Chick for your invaluable assistance with this coin!!
POP 1 Bought raw and certified with no coins certified lower... This coin appears to be overgraded in my opin...
Picked out of a junk box at the Hot Springs Ark Coin Show in 2021. This could be the "Poster Coin" for Low Ball Collectors, absolutely no Obverse details, and only the "CC" mintmark showing above Bow on the reverse. Seated Dime collectors immediately understand this coin to be a one year type, hence it doesn't need to have the date showing as it can only be an 1875! This was one of the high points at the Hot Springs show...
Bought raw from Jack Beymer in Feb 2022 and certified.
POP 1 Bought raw at the Grapevine Show and certified... Nothing graded lower...
This is the "Famous" Charles Manske coin!! I ran across a story (Early 2022) about finding this coin in a recent roll search in the Gobrecht Journal which was complete with photos of the coin... I thought the coin had a good shot at grading a PR01, and I needed the coin for my Low Ball set... Contacted the author of the story, Charles and at first, he didn't want to sell as he was "Attached" to the coin and the story... Many months later he sold the coin to me... It didn't grade the Poor I thought it would, but made a FR2 which I was happy with... Funny story continued... Fast forward 2 years later to a coin show in Conroe, Texas and I'm sitting at a dealers table asking if he has any Low Ball type coins? The person sitting next to me turns and says; I know you!! I look at the person and have no idea who he is, and he introduces himself as none other than Charles Manske!! We have never met, and only spoken on the phone, and I believe he is from the Northeast!! What are the chances of this brief encounter more than a thousand miles from home??? Small world... Thanks again Charles... BTW.... I still think the coin should have graded a PR01...!
POP 1... Bought in an ANACS FR2 holder and cracked out and certified raw. I thought it had a really good chance (50-50) at down-grading to a PR01...
Bought in an NGC AG3 holder from Stacks Bowers in Sept of 2023. Crossed over to a PCGS AG3 holder.
