I started grading the New Zealand pennies to diversify from US coins. I had problems with NGC over a variety of this set, and PCGS said they could grade it. My first return with that variety, proved them wrong. Hopefully it will get the pedigree it deserves, and become the first one ever graded by anyone, and it might even open another slot in this set. It is a fine set to have 100%.

I submitted two 1965 NZ proof sets for grading on original purple packaging. They were graded as the proof coins they are, but now are listed as a PL pedigree. Thousands of dollars for the best, and they still have no clue. They actually ruined both 3d (threepence) in the grading process and have never been returned.
I have a few more coins to go. I do have a 1945 "British flan" in AU58 BN. These coins were never any other color. The planchets ("flans"), were purposely darkened to prevent hoarding. An unknown amount of these coins were minted in London using the New Zealand reverse. The Royal mint disavows any such coin error or variety. NGC has refused to grade any. PCGS graded mine, but it doesn't get the pedigree. The coin I have does have the first number for any NZ penny in BN. Another first and best of the browns.....so far. I have all the coins to complete this set, but I have to concentrate on a few Canadian coins first.
