With four denominations, $5, $10, $25 and $50, the American Gold Eagles have been popular since their introduction in 1986. As a rule, mintages for the smaller denominations are lower than for the largest 1 ounce ($50) size, so both premiums and values are proportionately higher. So far, only four collectors have managed to complete the Uncirculated set, but as one might expect from a modern series, set ratings exceed 69.
