Like the 81-O, the 82- tends to be fully struck but with subdued luster. The reverse tends to be weaker struck more often however. Slider coins are also fairly common. Alarge number of die varieties and a few are significant. Three very visible O/S moint marks(Vam's 3,4,and 5)are fairly scarce and command substantial premiums in higher grades. Earlier die states of O/S exist but are not visible. The O/S reverses show raised dots due to rusted dies and proof-likes are unknown. A very strong doubled O mint mark of Vam-7 is visible below and within the O and carries a modest premium. Proof-likes are fairly avaiblable and quite a few have cameo contrast as this 82-O DMPL is showing.

Cracked this one out from a MS62 PL Anacs holder and it ended up in a MS61 PCGS Holder, with no PL. The obverse is fully prooflike with good cameo contrast while the reverse is semi-prooflike grading to PCGS standards. I like the coin so I bought it, PL or not.

The 1887/6 Vam-2 is very rare in DMPL showing a total of only 13 graded so far with PCGS. This variety is showing the 7 repunched over the 6 in the date.The bottom of the 6 shows as a long curved line starting up slightly from the lower right bottom of the 7 and extending upwards one-third the digit height. The micro O vam 4, is the 2nd scarcest variety behind the very scarce vam 32 according to PCGS pop. report. Nice luster still remains on this AU example that was pulled from circulation early on in it's life.
