- Everyone knows that certain pedigrees mean great, high quality coins across the board--like Nafztger for Large Cents, Jack Lee is synonymous with SUPERB quality Morgan dollars. His sets have always ranked at the apex. Clearly this 98-S is deserving of such a fine set! Smooth satiny surfaces are clean, gleaming with a brilliant mint frost. Nicely struck, both sides are framed with a narrow halo of gold tone, that just adds to the very high end eye appeal. PCGS 94, NGC 13, CAC 18. Only a dozen coins are graded MS66+ at PCGS, and a mere trio of coins are graded finer, 2 in 67 and 1 in 68. The last PCGS/CAC MS66+ to sell in auction brought $5,875 in a February 2017 auction, while the only other one sold for $15,275 in the 2015 ANA auction. This coin is from the Jack Lee III set; the Jack Lee II coin is the monster PCGS/CAC MS68 that last sold in our Regency Auction XIV for $117,500. Even a 67, would sell for between $25,000 to $28,000 today. For a 66+, the current Collector's Universe value is listed at $6,750. We think this PQ coin will really attract very serious bidding from the astute Morgan dollar specialists, and would not be surprised if it brought "beyond moon money." Cert.
