- A popular Civil War date half dollar with a good look. Fully CHOICE for an AU, the surfaces are a pearly silver with accents of richer pewter-dove in the devices. Well struck and showing just the most minute amount of friction on the highest points and some minor contact. The eye appeal is quite nice for the assigned grade. Even a very picky collector will find a lot to love about this coin. PCGS 12, NGC 7, CAC 5. No PCGS/CAC example has ever sold in auction, but we do note the last two PCGS APRs, $887 in February 2014 and $1,035 in August 2011. More recently a PCGS AU58 CAC sold for $1,680 in December 2017. Definitely not a date or grade you see with any frequency, so bid accordingly. Cert. Number 36147258 PCGS # 6306
