Legend Rare Coin Auctions is proud to offer this MONSTER 1911-D cent! Pop Top, it is tied with just one other for FINEST graded. Despite a mintage of over 12.6 million, these are conditionally very scarce in GEM RED grades, and VERY RARE any finer. Beautiful and immaculate full RED surfaces are aflame with a strong copper luster. This coin, without a doubt is mind boggling! There is just the slightest hint of pretty pinkish-blue color on the reverse. Technically the quality is all there and then some, only using a strong glass can you find any tiny toning dots, nothing really worthy of mentioning-- everything else is essentially perfection! Sharply struck up devices show full definition on both sides. The current PCGS CoinFacts plate coin. PCGS 2, NGC 0. There has never been an auction appearance of this date in MS67 RD! The PCGS Price Guide has a value of $65,000 listed, and that is just a conjecture, when the bidding war ends, that level could very well be surpassed. As a frame of reference: the 09-S V.D.B. has a pop of 15 in MS67 RD and they have recently sold in the $61,668 to $94,000 range; the 13-S has a pop of 3 in MS66 RD, none finer at PCGS, and the record for one selling in auction is $63,250; the semi-key 1914-S has a record for a MS66 RD, Pop 3/ none are finer, at $83,375. This proves that early POP TOP Lincoln cents have very strong demand from collectors, and we would not be surprised if this SUPERB GEM realized a world record price for the date!
