This marvelous jewel is tied for FINEST seen at PCGS A three-year only type with the arrows at the date, the vast majority of 1855 half dimes went into circulation and Mint State coins are quite scarce; GEMS especially so. Well struck from a late die state, where both sides show clash marks, die fatigue and the reverse a major die crack across. A wealth of satiny mint frost glows from below a layer of lilac-silver, sky blue, and rose-gold tone. An AMAZING example of this type. PCGS 23, NGC 12, CAC 3. There are 3 graded MS66+ and the current Collectors Universe value is $8,500. None of the 66+s have ever sold in auction, but a non-CAC example is being offered on the market for $12,500.
