A VERY CHOICE Mint State example. Despite a somewhat generous mintage of 415,000, this date is scarce in any Mint State and RARE any finer than MS63; an MS64 as here, is tied for HIGHEST graded at NGC. A frosty Seated Liberty dollar that shows a wealth of pearly silver and glints of gold. Satiny lustrous fields are noted while the devices are loaded with a thick frost. Boldly struck throughout with sharp claws on the eagle and all the stars crisply defined. A condition rarity at this grade level and a date which is seldom seen any finer. PCGS 19, NGC 13. The last NGC-graded example sold nearly nine years ago, realizing $7,638 in the 2014 FUN auction. The last NGC MS65 sold in August 2006! Clearly high grade NGC coins rarely come to market.
