This is a very pleasing, totally original GEM 1818 quarter. Among the top 10 B-2 examples known, well within the Rea, et al and Tompkins Condition Census. Sharply struck devices stand out on both sides, accented by a bold, frosty luster. The obverse and reverse have a very pleasing pewter-silver with lilac and pale gold accents. Struck from a cracked obverse die, as are all B-2s. This one shows the crack at the upper obverse stars. This lovely GEM is a great type coin, one of the FINEST graded. PCGS 23, NGC 21, CAC 5. This was the most recent example sold for $28,800 in the 2019 FUN auction in a first generation PCGS holder. Clearly someone thought it had a shot at a higher grade. It is very high end and very sharp. We know this lovely coin will bring a strong bid. Perfect for a type set, or someone putting together a high grade Capped Bust quarter collection. The current Collectors Universe value is $28,500. EXTREMELY RARE any finer, just five have ever graded higher, including the James Stack- Brent Pogue 66 that sold for nearly $50,000 in May 2015. What a great coin! Cert. Number 37070771 PCGS # 005322
