- Legend Rare Coin Auctions is honored to have been consigned the FINEST 1914-S $10 that exists after 35+ years of grading by PCGS. Typically, this date comes rough and dullish. This coin is the total opposite. The surfaces are exceedingly clean and have a satiny smooth texture. Even when using a strong glass all you can find are a few microscopic contact ticks hidden on the face. A full headlight type booming luster shows off the deeper orange color. There are no spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally well struck. If the date did not say 1914 and have an S on the back you'd think this coin was a commoner 1911 that comes nice. The eye appeal is fantastic! PCGS 1, NGC 0. This coin last sold for $161,000 back in 2007. Still in its original holder, this coin has been off the market with the same buyer ever since. It is VERY IMPORTANT to note: prior to 2007, this coin last sold for $253,000 in June 2006. As you can see, it’s been 10 years and no similar coins have surfaced. If you are building one of the finest $10 Indian sets, this coin is a "must have". We think the coin’s reserve is more than reasonable. Cert. Number 07416869 PCGS # 8877
