FROM THE M & S PETTY COLLECTION A sensational example, tied for second highest graded at PCGS with just a single MS65 graded finer. This is a pleasing example of the final No Motto Seated Liberty type. It is believed that a large portion of the mintage of 46,500 was exported to Central and South America, the quantity too large to have been "a token issue" nor was it really large enough to have satisfied domestic circulation demand. A frosty CHOICE example that was perhaps dipped gently ages ago. A satiny brilliance gleams through a soft iridescent, pearly silver-pewter tone. Sharply struck devices stand out boldly and there are just a few minor ticks and marks that account for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is special for sure. Ex Legend #2 Set; Legend Numismatics; our consignor. PCGS 10, NGC 12. The last non-CAC PCGS example to sell was back in January 2008, even then it realized $21,850. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $30,000. Just a single MS65 is grade finer, one that has not appeared in auction, but should it come up, it would likely approach six figures! This is a wonderful Civil War date worthy of any world class cabinet! Good luck. Cert. Number 25596547 PCGS # 6955
