CHINA. Wilhelm II/Boxer Rebellion Silver Medal, 1900. PCGS SPECIMEN-62. Marienburg-7170. Diameter: 39mm. On Germany's entry into war in China in the form of the Boxer Rebellion. Obverse: Bust right, in military attire; Reverse: Map of China and the Yellow Sea, with eight stars surrounding in outer ring. A RAREand enchanting issue pertaining to a particularly pivotal period, this nearly-choice specimen--despite some scattered friction--yields a high degree of lustrous brilliance and also sports a deeply burnished tone. This medal actually comes in two different modules: 39mm, as is the case here, and 34.5mm, which features overall a very similar design, but with the Kaiser's helmet extending into the obverse legend and without eight-starred outer ring on the reverse. Both versions appear to be of similar RARITY. Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
