Certainly high end for the assigned grade, the present coin straddles the line for placement in the Choice category. Brilliantly lustrous surfaces have a mix of satiny frost and a rolling cartwheel effect that brings life to the razor sharp strike. Every detail is fully rendered by an exacting blow from the dies. A gentle halo of golden tone frames the rims on both sides. There are a few marks that we note for the sake of full disclosure and account for the assigned grade--however the eye appeal is very high end for the grade. This is a neat variety with the second 1 in the date repunched, the number originally punched too close to the 5. A lower mintage date, with only 200,750 struck for circulation, many of which were exported and melted for bullion. Very few survive in Mint State grades. PCGS 9, NGC 2, CAC 1. This example sold in May 2013 for $4,700--a price in line with MS63s--that is how nice this coin is! The current PCGS Price Guide lists a value of $4,500 and we think this coin will exceed that level when it crosses the block. Cert. Number 27434291 PCGS # 6266
