- Delightful Choice AU 1806 Half Eagle 1806 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-4. Rarity-5+. Pointed-Top 6, Stars 8x5. AU-58 (PCGS). Handsome olive undertones backlight dominant medium color on both sides of this engaging piece. Pale pinkish-silver overtones further enhance the obverse. Boldly defined over most features, although the centers are noticeably soft. The surfaces retain appreciable satin luster that is liveliest when viewed with the aid of direct lighting. BD Die State a. This is a charming near-Mint example of a scarce die marriage in the early half eagle series. BD-4 is one of the more elusive varieties of the 1806-dated issue, John W. Dannreuther (2006) accounting for just 30 to 35 survivors in all grades. This is our first offering for the attribution since 2018, and only our third in the last 13 years.
