- 1962 Lincoln Cent. MS-67+ RD (PCGS). Here is a virtually perfect early date Lincoln cent of the Memorial Reverse design type. Smooth and lustrous, both sides are fully struck with bright, pale golden-orange mint color. Writing in the 1996 reference The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents, David W. Lange observes: "The demand for cents was such in 1962 that the Philadelphia Mint coined this denomination alone from February through March, and again from August through October. In April, only cents and halves were coined, in July only cents and nickels." By year's end the Philadelphia Mint had produced a staggering total of 606,045,000 cents for circulation, few of which are as close to pristine as this amazing Superb Gem.
