1870-S Liberty Half Eagle. AU-58 (NGC). One of the three finest graded by both NGC and PCGS of this date, with <em>no mint state examples graded by either service.</em>&nbsp;A mere 17,000 were coined for the year and all apparently entered circulation at least for a time. Pleasing yellow-gold throughout, with minimal surface nicks and good visual appeal. There are just three specimens at most graded at this level, and perhaps 100 or so known in all. A scarce coin overall and a formidable rarity so well preserved that is worthy of the finest collection.
