- There is just something about No Motto eagles from the 1850s that are very charming. They are truly conditionally scarce coins, the vast majority disappearing into circulation during the Antebellum, with very few quality pieces for collectors to pursue. The 1854 is a great example, the original mintage was modest, only 54,250 were struck. David Akers wrote that the "1854 is a rare date in any condition, and in AU or uncirculated condition it is very rare. Most available specimens are only VF or EF." This "GEM" AU is very well struck for the issue with complete definition visible to the hairlines. A wonderful satin frost sets the fields aglow with a pleasing luster. A few ancient marks from its brief stay in circulation, this very pretty coin stands out from the masses with a great look. PCGS 19, NGC 64, CAC 7. The only CAC-approved coin sold nearly eight years ago! The last two PCGS-graded coins sold in February and June 2018, realizing $3,840 and $3,240 respectively. EXTREMELY RARE in Mint State. Good luck! Cert. Number 35506697 PCGS # 8613
