1872-CC Liberty Half Eagle. Winter 1-B. AU-55 (PCGS). 1901/0-S Liberty Half Eagle. FS-301. Genuine--Code 98, Edge/Rim Damage (PCGS). At 16,980 pieces produced, the mintage for the 1872-CC half eagle is not much lower than that of the 1871-CC (20,770 coins struck). The 1872-CC is far rarer in today's market, however, with Rusty Goe (<em>The Mint on Carson Street</em>, 2003) accounting for a mere 100-125 coins extant in all grades. Additionally, this issue is unknown in Mint State.<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;An impressively sharp coin in an early CC-mint five, both sides are boldly to sharply defined even in and around the centers on both sides. Wear is expectably light for the assigned grade, and handsome khaki-orange color also provides strong eye appeal. There are no sizeable or otherwise individually distracting abrasions.
