- GREAT BRITAIN. 1/2 Pound, 1642. Shrewsbury Mint. Charles I. PCGS EF-45. S-2920; N-2364; Brooker-800-1 (same dies). Declaration type. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; plumes to right; Reverse: Declaration in two lines between two parallel lines; three plumes above. Struck just the slightest degree off-center, this impressive specimen nevertheless delights with a charming cabinet tone and very little evidence of wear or handling. Some minor adjustment marks are noted nearer the peripheries, but do not detract. Meanwhile, a good deal of elegant brilliance resides in the protected areas. Estimate: $7,000 - $10,000.
