- 1822 Capped Bust Dime. JR-1, the only known dies. Rarity-3+. AG-3 (PCGS). CAC. The mintage of 100,000 pieces is clearly incorrect as the key date 1822 dime has never been available in any quantity; it would be more likely that half or fewer that number were actually coined. This example would be a prize worth capturing as these are infrequently offered at any grade level, and then again many of the 200 to 250 pieces extant are impaired. CAC Population: 36 in all grades.
