- 1931-S Buffalo Nickel. MS-66+ (PCGS). An exceptional premium Gem 1931-S, with unusually intense mint luster and remarkably clean surfaces. One of the best examples of this issue ever seen by PCGS. Until 1960, when the landscape of coin collecting changed in America (due to the inauguration of the weekly Coin Worldand the sensational publicity given to the 1960 Small Date cent, it was not unusual to find rolls of 1931-S nickels, ditto for cents of the same date and mint.
