- 1760 Hibernia-Voce Populi Halfpenny. Zelinka 6-C, Nelson-9, W-13820. Rarity-3. AU-55. 99.4 grains. Frosty olive brown on the obverse, more richly lustrous medium brown on the reverse. A very high grade specimen with choice surfaces and eye appeal. Denticles frame the obverse from 10 o'clock to 5 o'clock. The centers of both sides are far better struck than usually encountered on the "Stern Bust" variety. A few little planchet chips are noted low on the bust, other artifacts in the fields tend to be raised and from the die. This may be the most easily acquired Voce Populi in nice grade, but that takes nothing away from the desirability of a piece Ted Craige referred to as, simply, "Choice!" PCGS# 262. Provenance: From the Ted L. Craige Collection. Purchased from B.A. Seaby, Ltd. on June 27, 1966 for 12 pound sterling.
