A flashy, high end GEM JR-4. While only a Rarity-2 variety, this splendid example ranks among Condition Census for the die marriage. An exceptional quality specimen, housed in an old green tag PCGS encapsulation, the virtually untoned surfaces gleam with an icy, flashy, semi-reflective mint brilliance, blinding in its intensity. The sharply struck devices have a thick, frosty snowy-white texture that stands out boldly. A hint of wispy clear gold highlights can be seen as you rotate this PQ GEM in a light adding depth and dimension to the sensational simply stunning eye appeal! PCGS 8, NGC 10, CAC 5. PCGS has graded just a half dozen finer. Recent PCGS/CAC MS66 examples (there have been three appearances in the last 18 months) have sold in a narrow range from $13,800 to $14,400. The current CAC CPG value is listed at $15,000 and the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $16,500. A PCGS MS66+ (no CAC) sold for $25,200 in the 2019 ANA auction, and the finest MS68 (ex James Lull and D. Brent Pogue Collections) realized $94,000 in 2016.
