- KARL GOETZ MEDALS. Germany. 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Frederick the Great Silver Medal, 1912. Munich Mint. PCGS MATTE SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield. Kienast-12. 36mm. By Karl Goetz. Obverse: Uniformed bust of Frederick the Great right, wearing tricorne hat; Reverse: Flag bearer and two drummers advancing left. Mostly steel gray surfaces are accentuated by a lovely iridescent tone throughout on this enticingly choice example. Frederick the Great ruled over the Kingdom of Prussia for more years (46) than any other from the House of Hohenzollern, the dynastic family that would eventually produce the German Emperors only a century later.
