- 详细说明
- A very scarce date in all grades, originating from a small mintage of 16,000, of which about 130 examples are thought to be known in all grades, per PCGS CoinFacts. David Akers explained that these are VERY RARE in full Mint State and the average grade is in the VF range. The 1870-S quarter eagle is apt to be bluntly struck, so the sharply struck example offered here, which ranks as tied for SECOND FINEST CERTIFIED, is a very fine exception for how these usually come. Virtually all details were crisply rendered from an exacting blow from the dies. Flashy and brilliant lustrous surfaces have tinges of reflection and satin frost. The rich golden color really adds to the outstanding visual allure of this Condition Census level, CHOICE Mint State example. A strong visual allure on this impressive conditionally rare date and one that belongs in a very special set of quarter eagles. PCGS 4, NGC 1. This coin has not sold in auction in a decade. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $20,000. There are just two examples graded higher, both MS64, one of which recently sold for $34,800 in March 2020. This very attractive example is worthy of a high ranked set and will see very spirited bidding. Good luck. Cert. Number 24876054 PCGS # 7812
