- Scarce Type 1 Liberty Head Double Eagle Rich yellow gold with luster in the protected areas of the design. Surfaces are smooth and evenly worn with minimal contact marks for such a large and heavy coin. From a modest mintage of 92,098, relatively few survive, and only 177 pieces have been certified by PCGS and NGC in all grades. PCGS 9, NGC 9, CAC 1. The only XF40 stickered by CAC. Valued in the PCGS price guide at $11,250. Last auction record $10, 869 in February 2018. A tough Type I date for the Liberty Double Eagle collector. Cert. Number 34670774 PCGS # 8937
