1843 Liberty Head Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC. At the uppermost reaches of EF preservation, this is one of the most appealing 1843 eagles that we have ever offered. A tinge of orange iridescence enhances the handsome honey-olive color. Flashes of prooflike reflectivity outline many of the design elements, the texture otherwise frosty. Sharply struck with no sizable or otherwise singularly mentionable marks. Although a seemingly available issue by 1840s Liberty Head eagle standards, the mintage of 75,462 pieces largely entered commercial channels and stayed there until the individual coins were heavily worn or lost.
