FROM THE CULLEN B COLLECTION The 86-O is another date that was not saved at the time of issue by contemporary collectors, the majority of them were either stored in bags and melted down in 1918 and those that did go out into circulation remained there until they acquired quite a bit of wear. Scarce from AU on up, the coin becomes rare in MS63 and finer. This well struck and frosty lustrous example is a great coin for any budget minded collector. Glints of clear gold and ivory iridescence attest to the originality and add to the eye appeal. In our opinion, the contact that limits the grade to a 62+ does not have an impact on the eye appeal. PCGS 869, NGC 567, CAC 49. PCGS has graded just a dozen in MS62+ and the only PCGS/CAC example to sell in auction to sell brought $1,763 in October 2016 (a weaker market). The current PCGS value is listed at $1,950. Scarce in MS63 and RARE any finer if you are still looking for a nice Mint State example that won't break the bank, do not over look this nearly CHOICE example. Cert. Number 34240978 PCGS # 007168
