1901 Barber Dime. Proof-67 (PCGS). Repunched 01 low. One of finest examples known of this date, with a mintage of just 813 pieces in proof. Furthermore, this coin has the seldom seen repunched 01, seen below the existing digits which were punched in too low in the die. Toned with deep blue-gray to charcoal on the right side of the obverse and in an irregular fashion on the reverse, likely from long storage. This type of toning is similar to that seen on the proof silver coins sold in the Century Collection offered in the early 1990s and this piece may indeed hail from that incredible group of early proofs. The surfaces are virtually pristine, and such quality is a delight to examine with a strong loupe.
