During the production run, mint employees struck 50 examples on specially polished planchets after polishing the dies, similar to the process for making Proof coins; what keeps them from being full PROOFS, is that each coin was struck only once, rather than two or more times as required for striking proofs. As expected for the lofty 67+ grade level, this coin has no hairlines, ticks, marks or carbon spotting. The strike is full and the fields beam with ultra bold reflectivity and display rich, fully PL mirrors. To say the eye appeal is SUPERB is a huge understatement! PCGS 11, NGC 4, CAC 9. Only 2 are graded SP67+ and there is only one SP68 finer. We sold a PCGS SP67+ CAC in our October 2017 Regency Auction XXIII for $19,975. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $17,000.
