A very pleasing AU example of this final year of the early silver dollars. Hints of luster remain under a pleasing toning, particularly around the well struck devices. A hint of high point wear from a brief stay in early American commerce. The mint stopped producing dollars for circulation in 1804 (all dated earlier), and did not begin mass producing circulation strikes again until 1840. PCGS 25, NGC 9. This was last NGC-graded coin to sell, in a July 2016 auction, realizing $5,170. In 2007, this coin was offered as part of the Dr. Hesselgesser Collection, where it realized $7,188.
