More than likely the FINEST KNOWN example of the B-4 die pairing, this GEM "+" graded reduced size Capped Bust quarter is a real prize for the type, date, or variety collector. A bold luster glows with a strong brilliance over satiny, frosted surfaces on both sides. The fields and devices are gently kissed by a totally original dusting of original toning. Sharply struck devices show boldly defined details on both sides and the surfaces are free of distracting marks; even using a strong glass the ticks are minor and don't impact the quality or the outstanding eye appeal in any way. The two oft cited Condition Census listing for this Rarity-3 die pair list coins graded MS64 at the top of the pop, clearly this MS65+ must be the FINEST KNOWN. PCGS 15, NGC 13, CAC 5. There are just two graded MS65+ at PCGS, and this one sold for $30,550 in April 2017--that seems like yesterday, but was actuality half a decade ago! The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $32,500. While PCGS has eight coins listed higher on their Population Report, we wonder if there is some duplication in submissions. The last MS66 sold for $76,375 in June 2014 and the two MS67 both sold in the first Pogue sale (May 2015) for six figure levels. This impressive Capped Bust quarter belongs in a WORLD CLASS type or date set of quarters. Bound for strong bidding. Cert. Number 82618389 PCGS # 5356
