- MEXICO. Ferdinand VII/Supreme Junta Bronze Proclamation Medal, 1808. PCGS MS-62 Brown.
Grove-F-31b. Struck to commemorate the establishment of the Supreme Junta General of Spain in the Indies. Perfectly chocolate-brown patina covers both sides, while traces of original mint red cling to some of the devices. Boldly struck and with o major issues, the current example is a superb issue for the type and the only example PCGS has graded for the variety. The obverse shows allegorical figures representing Spain holding a shield with a cross over the two globs iconography along with the letters "F VII" for Ferdinand VII, alongside a figure representing America holding a crown of roses and a knife. The reverse shows three men at a table with statues in the background. A very pleasing example of this scarce medal.
Estimate: $400 - $600.
