- Condition Census 1787 Miller 42-kk.2 1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 42-kk.2, W-4245. Rarity-5-. Draped Bust Left, AUCTOPI / ETIIB. AU-53 (PCGS). 133.52 grains. Medium olive brown with subtle mottling in the fields. A very pleasing coin with only a couple of small natural flaws noted. Almost perfectly centered on both sides and very nicely struck. The reverse is rotated just over 90 degrees from normal. Very similar in appearance to the Robert Martin specimen, but just a hair sharper and with nicer surfaces overall. The Martin piece was called Condition Census by him (a noted authority on the series), and we described it as finer than both the 1975 EAC and Taylor coins, "less sharp but with better surfaces than the Roper coin…and comparable to the gorgeous piece in our June 1995 Stack's auction." This one is sharper than Roper's and similar to the Stack's June 1995 coin. It is also far nicer than the Perkins, Ford and Twin Leaf coins.
