详细说明: 1793 Flowing Hair Cent. Chain Reverse. S-2. Rarity-4+. AMERICA, Without Periods. VF-20 BN (NGC). An exceptional example of this scarce variety with smooth surfaces painted in a marbled chocolate-brown patina. The devices are uniformly worn but pleasantly bold, retaining remarkable definition to the reverse motif. A trivial mark is seen in the field before Liberty's mouth, with another blemish in the upper left field on the reverse, though neither of these are noteworthy without a glass. The overall eye appeal is delightfully strong for the type and assigned grade, asserting this piece as a desirable offering for early American copper enthusiasts. There is no denying that this is a remarkable representative of the Sheldon-2 dies; a variety that is seldom encountered without surface issues like Environmental Damage or Cleaning. The widely spaced digits of the date on the obverse make this variety easily identifiable, however, the reverse die was also used to strike Chain cents of the S-3, S-4 and NC.1 varieties. Sheldon-2 is the scarcest of the 4 collectible Chain reverse varieties, and the present lot is surely among the more wholesome survivors. PCGS# 1341. NGC ID: 223F.
