- CANADA. Dollar, 1947. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. KM-37. Maple leaf, Doubled "HP" variety. Possessing clean fields for the grade with a touch of pale yellow tone appearing over otherwise brilliant surfaces. A SCARCEand highly collected variety. The maple leaf privy mark indicates this coin was struck just after India was granted independence, thus invalidating the obverse die with "ET IND: IMP". Since the new obverse coinage tools would not arrive for some time, the mint decided to continue striking 1947-dated coins with the outmoded obverse but with the addition of a maple leaf privy mark just after the date. Estimate: $800 - $1,200.
