- On Target Collection. During the mid-1990s, a hoard of lower mint-state 1916-S half-eagles entered the market, almost all showing the deeper orange-gold color seen here. This might well be from that group, since a number of abrasions in front of the portrait fit the modus operandi of loose storage. Very well struck with the usual blob mintmark.
