These early Seated half dollar Proofs are VERY RARE in all grades, but for some reason, the current market has put these wonderful numismatic treasures on sale. The present PR64 displays exceptional watery reflective mirrors that beam from all over, and creates a wonderful, almost cameo contrast against the frosted devices. A dusting of marble-textured multicolored earthtone toning gives shape and form to the well executed striking from the dies. There are a few tiny lines, which account for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is quite nice. Only 50 are estimated to have been struck. PCGS 14, NGC 12, CAC 11. (Clearly the population is inflated with resubmissions and crossovers). The Gene Gardner coin was the last one to sell in auction, selling for $14,688 in May 2015 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $11,000. This is a truly a VERY RARE coin that will delight any advanced collector who appreciates the absolute rarity of this near-GEM 1857 Proof half dollar. Cert. Number 38278625 PCGS # 006411
