The FINEST J-1680 certified by either service! One of the many iterations of Barber's Liberty Head that would find itself on the regular nickel series the following year is surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1882 on the obverse and the reverse has a large Roman V within a wreath of corn, wheat, and cotton, with E PLURIBUS UNUM in small letters at the top. Struck in nickel with a plain edge this is a low R-6. Rich frosty reliefs are crisply struck and contrast nicely against the warm mirrored field. A light champagne hue dusts over the simply SUPERB and outstanding quality surfaces. PCGS 0, NGC 1. As said, this is the FINEST graded by either service. The only "comparable" example was a PCGS PR67 CAM that sold in 2015 for $7,050. This coin should exceed that level today. This design is perhaps a touch more pleasing than the one that was adopted the following year. What a neat pattern that we are proud to offer! Cert. Number 3735475-007 PCGS # 414437
