- 1859 Octagonal 50 Cents. BG-901. Rarity-6+. Liberty Head. MS-65+ (PCGS). Reflective fields support satiny, sharp design elements on both sides of this bright and vivid golden-yellow Gem. The digit 9 in the date is broadly repunched on this variety attributed to maker Frontier, Deviercy & Co. This upper end example combines absolute and condition rarity and will be irresistible to advanced collectors specializing in California small denomination gold coinage.
