- "1881" (ca. 1900) Hawaii Five Cents. Canadian Copy. Aluminum. Thin Planchet. Proof-64 Deep Cameo (PCGS). This is the thin planchet aluminum counterpart to the thick planchet nickel striking of this type offered above. Bright and brilliant surfaces are fully struck with bold field to device contrast. According to Breen (1988), these copy Hawaii five cent pieces were produced in Canada ca. 1900 from dies prepared in France or Belgium. They are distinguished from the originals by the lack of a cross at the top of the crown on the reverse. PCGS# 658941. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
