This is not your typical 1936 Proof quarter! Struck late in the dies' usage and subsequently stored in a manner that allowed the surfaces to acquire a rich pastel iridescent toning pattern that is quite unique and totally original. The fields have a watery brilliance belying the color that at certain angles really pops. Sharply struck devices are set up against the virtually flawless fields and the eye appeal is great. In all this is a marvelous SUPERB GEM, tied for FINEST graded at PCGS! PCGS 23, NGC 28. The most recent example sold for $6,000 and that coin had a less dramatic toning scheme. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,250 and with NONE FINER at PCGS, if you are looking for a singular example for a 1936 Proof Set or set of Proof quarters, do not let this one get away.
