- PHILIPPINES. "For Valor" Gilt Bronze Award Medal, ND (ca. 1785). Charles III. PCGS Genuine Gold Shield. cf. Vives-59; cf. Medina-18; Basso-703; Honeycutt-5. Weight: 48 gms. By J. G. Gil. Obverse: Garlanded bust right; Reverse: Shield over two daggers; all within wreath. A seldom seen type, this charming example presents great vibrancy and brilliance, along with little in the way of handling or wear. For completeness, a minor mark--possibly a test--is noted on the edge, as well as some light scratches between the "L" and "O" in VALOR. Estimate: $700 - $1,000.
