- 1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar. BB-25, B-6. Rarity-3. Three Leaves. EF-40 (NGC). Soft undertones of iridescent lilac-blue and champagne-pink backlight warm mauve-gray and olive-russet patina on both sides of this handsome piece. Well centered in strike, if a bit soft in isolated peripheral areas, the major design elements display suitably bold definition at the assigned grade level. Wispy hairlines from numismatic handling are well concealed by the toning, and there are no sizeable marks. With an extant population of 500 to 800 coins (per Q. David Bowers, 2013), BB-25 is one of the more frequently encountered die marriages of the 1795 Flowing Hair dollar. The example offered here would do well in a circulated type, date or variety set.
