- Great Britain. Warwickshire--Birmingham. Undated (ca. 1790) Mounted Dragoon / Hedgehogs Shield Halfpenny Token. D&H-60c. Copper. MS-63 BN (PCGS). 158.9 grains. Mottled colors of golden-brown, medium copper and steel-olive blanket both sides, the reverse with faded pinkish-rose undertones evident at direct lighting angles. That side of the token is sharply struck and frosty, the obverse noticeably soft with numerous rust lumps and other evidence of die erosion scattered about. Struck on a planchet intended for a 1795 Talbot, Allum & Lee cent, as evidenced by the edge inscription WE PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ONE CENT. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
